Acceptable Use Policy
1 INTRODUCTION
NORAT Inc. (hereinafter referred to as “NORAT”) is an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) integrator. This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) establishes the acceptable and responsible use of NORAT’s and its affiliates’ supply of goods/products and services, and use of their ICT resources by employees, contractors, customers, clients, and any other authorized users (hereafter referred to as “Users”). The purpose of this policy is to ensure the efficient, ethical, and secure use of these goods, services, and ICT resources.
By using NORAT’s goods, services, and ICT resources, Users acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to abide by the terms and conditions outlined in this AUP.
2 SCOPE
This policy applies to all individuals who use or have access to NORAT’s goods, services, or ICT resources, including but not limited to employees, contractors, clients, customers, consultants, and any third parties granted access by NORAT.
3 REPORTING OF VIOLATIONS
Users who become aware of any violations of this AUP must immediately report the incident to NORAT.
4 CONSEQUENCES OF VIOLATION
A User’s violation of this AUP may result in NORAT applying recourse, including the immediate suspension or termination of partial or all services or contractual relationships to/with the User without notice, and/or the temporary or permanent removal of content, and/or suing the User for losses and damages. NORAT reserves the right to monitor, access, and disclose any information related to its ICT resources as necessary to enforce this policy or comply with applicable laws and regulations.
INDIRECT OR ATTEMPTED VIOLATIONS OF THIS POLICY, AS WELL AS ACTUAL OR ATTEMPTED VIOLATIONS BY A THIRD PARTY ON BEHALF OF A USER OR A CLIENT’S USER, SHALL BE CONSIDERED VIOLATIONS OF THE POLICY BY SUCH CLIENT AND/OR USER.
5 GENERAL USE
NORAT’s goods, services, and ICT resources may only be used for lawful purposes. Transmission, distribution, reproduction, storage, or use of any material in violation of any applicable law or regulation is prohibited. This includes, without limitation, material protected by copyright, trademark, trade secret or other intellectual property right used without proper authorization, and material that is illegal, obscene, defamatory, constitutes an illegal threat, or violates export control, privacy, or data protection laws.
Users must comply with all applicable local, national, and international laws and regulations and all other governmental entities that govern, restrict, or otherwise pertain to the use, distribution, export, or import of data, technical data, and/or goods and services while using NORAT’s ICT resources.
Users must take reasonable precautions to protect NORAT’s ICT resources from unauthorized access, damage, or misuse. This includes using strong passwords, keeping software and systems up to date with security patches, and promptly reporting any suspected security incidents or vulnerabilities.
Users must handle sensitive data, whether it belongs to NORAT or other Users, with the utmost care and in compliance with applicable data protection laws. Unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction of data is prohibited. Users must respect the privacy of other individuals and refrain from accessing, sharing, or distributing their personal information without proper authorization.
Users must comply with the current bandwidth, data storage and other limitations that may be in effect for the services they have purchased. Consistent use in excess of any such limits may result in the requirement to move to a higher level of service, or a payment for the additional services being used.
Users shall not utilize NORAT’s public servers for development or debugging of applications or web sites. Development should take place on the User’s computers before being uploaded to NORAT ICT resources.
6 PURCHASE AND USE OF GOODS AND SERVICES
Purchased goods and services are provided in terms of NORAT’s Terms and Conditions Agreement, irrespective of inconsistent or additional terms and conditions contained in a User’s Purchase Orders or other documents submitted by the User to NORAT.
Users shall use goods only for the purposes for which they were manufactured, and services shall be used pursuant to their specific purposes. Users shall not modify goods.
Prices for NORAT consulting services shall be in accordance with the NORAT Price List in effect at the time of order, reorder, or as specified on an authorized NORAT quote in force at the time an order is accepted.
7 SYSTEM AND NETWORK SECURITY
System or Network Security violations are prohibited and may result in criminal or civil liability. NORAT is under no obligation to monitor network transmissions or services and reserves the right to do so from time to time. NORAT reserves the right to investigate such violations and apply recourse where applicable. Examples of system or network security violations include the following, without limitation:
- Unauthorized access to, or use of, data, systems, or networks, including any attempt to probe, scan, test the vulnerability, of a system or network or to breach security or authentication measures without express authorization of the owner of the system or network; or,
- Unauthorized monitoring of data or traffic on any network or system without express authorization of the owner of the system or network; or,
- Interference with service to any User, host or network including, without limitation, mail bombing, flooding, deliberate attempts to overload a system and broadcast attacks, or,
- Forging of any TCP / IP (Internet Protocol) packet header or any part of the header information in an email posting.
8 EMAIL
Sending unsolicited mail messages is prohibited. This includes without limitation, commercial advertising, informational announcements, and mail messages that are NOT sent through a NORAT mail relay. Users shall not use another site’s mail server to relay mail without the site’s express permission.
9 HOSTING
Users are solely responsible for the content of any server or site hosted on NORAT’s ICT resources. This includes the security of data and applications stored thereon. All required legal permission must be obtained to use such content. NORAT reserves the right to refuse or remove content, either wholly or in part, that in its sole discretion is deemed offensive, indecent, or otherwise inappropriate, regardless of whether such material or its dissemination is unlawful.

11 POLICY REVIEW
NORAT reserves the right to modify this AUP at any given time to ensure its continued effectiveness and alignment with evolving technologies, legal requirements, and business needs. The revised AUP will become effective upon posting the modified version the following URL: https://norat.com/aup/
